Care for the Family began training presenters for ‘How to Drug Proof Your Kids’ three years ago and so far over 600 accredited presenters have been trained to take the programme into their local communities throughout the UK. “‘How to Drug Proof Your Kids’ is primarily about prevention,” explains Paula Pridham, Care for the Family’s Training Manager. “The key aim is to enable parents to help their children make informed choices about drinking, smoking and using illegal drugs. Obviously it helps to discuss alcohol and drugs before your children are tempted to start experimenting. But we also cover other crucial areas, including intervention and handling relapses.”
