Hope UK

Local churches can reach out into their communities to help parents increase their drug awareness and be better equipped to bring up their children.

Hope UK’s Drug Educators can provide parental awareness sessions or, alternatively, a self-preparation drug awareness workshop is available.

Hope UK can recommend the Drug Proof Your Kids® programme supplied by Care for the Family. This consists of six 2-hour sessions taught by a trained presenter (one session per week for six weeks). Topics covered include:

• Why children take drugs

• How to educate children and young people to make good choices

• Prevention tools for parents

• Learning to intervene and where to get help

Hope UK also has a 2-day Family Worker course.

Further information is available in the Knowledge and Theology Hubs. It is also helpful to encourage parents and other carers to use Alcohol-free Drinks.

Hope UK’s Parents Action Plan offers ten points of advice and is available free for single copies and a minimum charge of £2 for 10 copies (plus 20p each thereafter). Order here.
