Responsive Prayer

LEADER: Our God is a strong rock.

CONGREGATION: He provides a firm footing so that our feet do not slip.

LEADER: God pulls us out of deep water.

CONGREGATION: In our deepest distress He rescues us.

LEADER: We need only to say I’m slipping.

CONGREGATION: And God is there to hold us up.

LEADER: God covers us with His feathers, we find shelter under His wings.

CONGREGATION: Eternal God, open our hearts to understand the wonder of your love for us.

Loving God we thank you for our children. Give them, above all, your Spirit. Give them time to think and reflect. Give them a strong sense of identity and respect for their heads, minds and bodies. Give them the strength to face with firmness voices and forces that would devalue them. Fill their consciences and occupy their minds with your will, purpose and design for themselves and others.

God of wisdom we pray for our young people growing up in an unstable and confusing world.

We pray for those who feel they have no support from the adults around them and who grow resentful.

We pray for those who are caught up in violence, either giving it or receiving it.

We pray for those who are morally confused and uncertain of what is right and wrong.

God of wisdom, give our young people understanding and courage to choose what is right.

God of peace, we give into your care our children for whom we worry so much. It is so hard to stand by and watch them making mistakes and doing what may be foolish or wrong. Help us to be loving, patient and forgiving. Help us, by the way we live, to be good and consistent examples. Give us all peace as we trust in you. Thank you that you love our children more than we do. Protect them, we pray.
