Peer Mentors

generation-hope-street-work-2conversation-with-boysHope UK recognises that, after parents, other children and young people have the most influence over their peers.  It is for this reason that we are recruiting young people belonging to our youth arm, Generation Hope, to be trained as peer mentors.  Unlike our voluntary Drug Educators, they will not be trained to take drug education sessions, but will be given the knowledge and skills to be good role models in their communities and help their friends and acquaintances to achieve their potential.   Alongside adult Drug Educators, they also participate in ‘detached’ drug education with the general public from stands on the street and at community events like summer fairs.  As a part of this they will, like our voluntary Drug Educators, be expected to be personally drug and alcohol-free.
